Lauren Alexis Says Her Grandmother Predicted She’d Be Broke. They Argued About Who Pays for Coffee

Contains adult themes: this story covers an OnlyFans creator and adult (p*rn) work. Nothing explicit is described.

In brief: In interviews with OK! and The Sun published Nov. 3, creator Lauren Alexis says her grandmother cut her off after she picked social media over university. She says the two rarely spoke for years, and that their last reunion went wrong when she paid for the coffee.

Every family has a relative with predictions. Lauren Alexis’s had very specific ones.

The UK creator, whom The Sun describes as 27 and earning six figures a month, told OK! that her grandmother turned on her when she chose social media over a university degree. “She was like, ‘You’re going to be 16 and pregnant. You’re going to be broke. You’re going to be coming to me asking me for help,’” Alexis said.

There was more. “Your brother and sister are going to do so much better than you. You’re never going to be like your cousins. You’re not going to do this family proud.”

A family of professionals

According to both outlets, Alexis grew up surrounded by traditional careers. Her grandmother was a psychologist and her aunt a psychiatrist, and other relatives went into nursing, the military and care work. Alexis was interested in medicine and biology, The Sun reports, until she decided on social media instead. “When she found out that I didn’t want to do that, she just completely switched,” she said.

Attempts to patch things up did not go well, by her account. “Every time I would reach out, I would message her and be like, ‘Hey, do you want to get a coffee?’ And she’d just reply, ‘Why? What do you need?’”

The coffee incident

After four or five years apart, her mother set up a coffee outing. Alexis offered to pay, which turned out to be the wrong move. “I went up and I paid for the coffees. And she stood up and she was like, ‘See, you’re just showing off. You can’t let me buy the coffee,’” she told The Sun.

Their most recent run-in went the same way, she says. “She kind of just looked me up and down. She goes, ‘So you’ve not had a baby yet? Not pregnant yet?’” Alexis says the warning then moved on to what pregnancy would do to her body.

In other words, the predictions have not come true, so the grandmother has updated them.

Mum went lingerie shopping

Her mother is a different story. Alexis said her mother was skeptical at first but came around “within like two, three months” and even helped with her OnlyFans work. “If I was doing try-on hauls and I didn’t have time to go to Victoria’s Secret and buy new lingerie for try-on hauls, she would so happily just go out and get involved with it all,” she said. “For her, it’s just a normal job. Completely normal.”

Alexis says the criticism hurt but pushed her. “I think it actually probably helped push me to work harder almost at that age,” she told The Sun, adding, “She doesn’t understand that success can come from a lot of different avenues.”

She says her grandmother knows about her success through other relatives but will not acknowledge it. That leaves the family with one open question: who pays for the next coffee.
