The visit went big on Oct. 5, when an X account posted two of the photos with the caption “A legend graced the offices. Top tier visit.” That post passed 1.3 million views and 16,000 likes. In the photos, Asa poses in a grey college-style sweatshirt in front of packed shelves of discs, in one shot tongue out and throwing a peace sign. In two instant-camera prints laid on a Criterion-branded envelope, she holds up the discs she picked.
Film people had questions. “Bro what’s Asa Akira doing in the Criterion Closet,” one user asked. Another answered: “They let anyone in the criterion closet lmao Asa akira is a goat contender.” Over on r/criterion, a thread titled “Asa Akira closet video when, Criterion?” asked for the full closet video.
No closet video has been announced, so for now the photos are all we’ve got. Our read: the internet’s favorite cinephile ritual just learned that adult stars have Letterboxd taste too, and the 1.3 million views suggest people liked finding out.
