Contains adult themes: this story covers posts by an adult (p*rn) performer. Nothing explicit is described.
In brief: On the evening of Nov. 2, performer Lily Adams posted that she wants her pet Nelson to have a pug friend, then raised the obvious objection: “why is it 4k for that.” Earlier the same evening she shared that her mom took her to Memphis to see an Elton John impersonator.

Every pet owner eventually has the same idea: what this animal needs is a friend. And every pet owner then has the same second idea, about four seconds later, after looking at a price.
Lily Adams went through both stages in a single sentence on X on Nov. 2:
I want Nelson to have a pug friend but why is it 4k for that

The math of a friend
She did not say where the $4,000 figure came from, which breeder or which listing, so we will take it as her number and leave the receipts to her. What she captured is the moment the warm, generous instinct (Nelson deserves company) meets the cold arithmetic (company, apparently, costs about the same as a used car with character).
She also did not say what kind of animal Nelson is, so we won’t either. What we do know is that she wants him to have a friend, and that she has a very specific friend in mind. Nelson’s own position on the matter was not posted.
The question “why is it 4k for that” is one of the great unanswered questions of modern life, up there with concert ticket fees and airport sandwiches. Nobody has ever received a satisfying answer. Lily Adams is unlikely to be the first.
Meanwhile, in Memphis
Her evening also had a musical subplot. About an hour before the pug post, she explained a missed connection with her favorite artist:
I went to Bonnaroo and my friends got too.. you know.. to see Elton John. I love Elton. My favorite. So my mom took me to Memphis and we found an impersonator
That is a complete story arc in four sentences: a festival, a missed set, a loyal fan and a mother who solved the problem with a road trip and a tribute act. If the pug ever arrives, it is joining a family that clearly does not give up when the first option falls through.
It also suggests a workable plan for Nelson. If the real thing is out of reach, Memphis apparently has options. A pug impersonator, at least, should come in under four grand.
Why it lands
Plenty of posts from people in the adult business are about the business. These two are about a pet, a price tag and a mom. They read like a group chat that accidentally went public, and they are better for it.
No word yet on whether Nelson is getting a friend. If he does, we would like to know the name, and the final price.
