In brief: Japanese AV actress Nana Yagi has revealed the title of her crowdfunded first photo essay: “Mainichi, ussura taicho ga warui” (“Every Day, I Feel Slightly Unwell”). The 20-chapter book goes on general sale Dec. 13, 2026, her seventh debut anniversary, with a backer-only edition due by Dec. 8. The GREENFUNDING campaign raised ¥12,277,087 from 329 backers, 292% of its ¥4.2 million goal.

Most celebrity memoirs pick a title that sounds like a TED talk. Nana Yagi picked one that sounds like a Monday. Her first photo essay, announced in a GREENFUNDING update on Nov. 1, is called “Every Day, I Feel Slightly Unwell.” In Japanese the key word is “ussura,” roughly “faintly” or “a little.”

She expected a reaction. “You may think it’s a slightly odd title,” she wrote. “But to me, they were words that fit very naturally as a description of my everyday life.”

Her explanation is the most relatable paragraph a crowdfunding update has ever contained. “To say flatly, ‘I’m fine,’ would be a bit of a stretch,” she wrote. “But that doesn’t mean I can neatly explain what’s hard, either.” Anyone who has answered “How are you?” with “Yeah, good” while meaning something far more complicated will recognize the feeling.

Twenty chapters, written from a distance

The book pairs photos with her writing. In her Nov. 1 post on X, she described it as: “Photos, and the words I’d kept locked away inside, in one book. Twenty chapters in which I wrote about myself somehow as if it were someone else’s story.”

Writing about yourself as a slightly bemused bystander is either a literary device or a coping strategy, and possibly both. She admits some passages made her hesitate: there are words, she wrote, that she agonized over many times before deciding to share. Her hope is that someone with similar feelings reads them and thinks, “It wasn’t just me,” and that after finishing, they look at the cover again and can breathe a little more deeply.

The anniversary part

The general edition is scheduled for bookstores on Sunday, Dec. 13, the day she marks seven years since her debut. “That, in a form I never imagined seven years ago, I can deliver the words of a nobody like me as a single book,” she wrote. The thought, she added, fills her heart.

Calling herself a nobody is a stretch of its own. The crowdfunding page shows ¥12,277,087 raised from 329 backers against a ¥4.2 million target, or 292%. Backers get a limited edition with a different cover from the store version, due by Tuesday, Dec. 8, in time for the opening day of her photo exhibition. She also writes a monthly book-review column for Tokyo Sports, so she will at least know how the reviews are supposed to go.

Not exactly resting

For someone who feels slightly unwell every day, her November schedule is busy: a 2027 calendar hand-off event on Nov. 3, signings in Fukuoka on Nov. 7, Osaka on Nov. 8 and Akihabara on Nov. 15, a sold-out live broadcast on Nov. 14, and a fan meeting in Taiwan on Nov. 21 and 22. Slightly unwell, extremely booked.
