Beach Volleyball Pro Avery Poppinga Says OnlyFans ‘Absolutely Changed My Life’

Contains adult themes: this story mentions OnlyFans. Nothing explicit is described.

In brief: Professional beach volleyball player Avery Poppinga, 27, told NewsNation in an interview first aired in May that an OnlyFans sponsorship “absolutely changed my life.” The interview resurfaced this week, with IBTimes UK covering it on Nov. 4. It is not a new announcement.

Beach volleyball has a famously simple dress code. Paying for it is the complicated part. Avery Poppinga, a 27-year-old pro, estimates that travel, hotels, coaching and gear cost her about $50,000 a year, mostly out of her own pocket, according to NewsNation and IBTimes UK.

Her answer was OnlyFans. “It’s absolutely changed my life, like for the better,” she said in a NewsNation interview that first ran in May. The clip got a second serve this week when Medical Daily UK (Nov. 3) and IBTimes UK (Nov. 4) wrote it up.

‘This childhood dream of mine’

Before the money came in, she said, the travel was weighing on her. “I was having panic attacks when I was traveling overseas,” she told NewsNation, because she didn’t know whether she should keep going “just to fulfill this childhood dream of mine.” That is her own account of what she went through; neither outlet reports a diagnosis.

In the interview she said a friend, now her business partner and also an OnlyFans athlete, brought her into it. IBTimes UK, citing Front Office Sports, reported that she signed a sponsorship with OFTV, the company’s non-explicit streaming arm, in February 2025, renewed it, and left her remote desk job. IBTimes says the deal runs through 2027. Front Office Sports also reported that she posts swimsuit modelling and subscriber content alongside volleyball footage.

Not just her

She is far from the only athlete on the platform. An OnlyFans spokesperson has put the number at about 285 professional athletes, NewsNation reported. Poppinga told the network that reactions inside her sport have been positive. “They know how rough it is,” she said.

She plays in a swimsuit either way. Now the swimsuit pays for the plane ticket.
