Sora Aoi Has a Request for Fans Who Spot Her Off Duty: Don’t, Because She’ll Just Say ‘No, That’s Not Me’

Contains adult themes: this story is about a former adult-video actress. Nothing explicit is described.

In brief: On Nov. 3, Japanese actress and TV personality Sora Aoi asked fans on X not to call out to her if they recognize her somewhere that looks private. She wrote that in those moments she has “completely” become someone she calls Junko and cannot respond, and that she will probably just say she is not who they think. The translation below is Channel 304’s own.

Most celebrities wear sunglasses. Sora Aoi apparently just becomes somebody else.

Aoi, a former adult-video star who has spent years working as a mainstream entertainer in Japan, according to Wikipedia, posted a short and very polite request on X on Nov. 3. Here it is in full, in her original Japanese:

“きっとプライベートだなって思ったら、蒼井そらと分かっても声かけないでね!完全に純子になってるので、私が反応できないのです。いえ、違いますけどって言っちゃうしw”

What she said, line by line

The first line, “きっとプライベートだなって思ったら,” means roughly “If you think, ‘she must be on her own time.’” The word she uses is プライベート, the Japanese borrowing of “private,” which here means off duty rather than secret.

The second, “蒼井そらと分かっても声かけないでね!,” is the request itself: “please don’t call out to me, even if you can tell it’s Sora Aoi!” 声をかける is the everyday phrase for approaching someone or saying hello.

The third, “完全に純子になってるので、私が反応できないのです,” translates as “I’ve completely turned into Junko, so I can’t react.” She does not explain who Junko is in the post, and Channel 304 is not going to guess beyond the obvious reading: it is the name for her off-duty self.

The last line is the punchline. “いえ、違いますけどって言っちゃうしw” means “because I’ll just end up saying, ‘No, I’m not, though.’” The “w” at the end is Japanese internet shorthand for laughter, roughly “lol.”

The polite version of ‘leave me alone’

Put together, it is a gentle warning dressed as a joke. If you see her in a supermarket, she would rather you didn’t say hi, and if you do, she has already decided to deny everything.

Her X bio describes her in English as “a Japanese actress” who has been studying English and Chinese, and in Japanese as working as a タレント, a TV personality. Junko, it seems, has the day off from all of that. The request itself is clear enough: off duty means off duty.

Fans can still say hello online. Just not to Junko.
