Trisha Paytas Has a Proposal After the Time Change: ‘Everyone Should Be in Bed by 5 pm’

Contains adult themes: this story is about a creator. Nothing explicit is described.

In brief: Days after clocks in most of the US fell back an hour on Nov. 1, creator Trisha Paytas posted on X on Nov. 3 (Pacific time) that she loves sleeping and that “everyone should be in bed by 5 pm now with the time change.” Her X banner is currently advertising her Eras of Trish tour of Australia and New Zealand in 2027.

Every year the clocks go back and everyone complains about the dark. Trisha Paytas has a simpler idea: go to bed.

“I love sleeping. Wow. I love being cozy in bed. Everyone should be in bed by 5 pm now with the time change 😴” the creator wrote on X on the evening of Nov. 3, US time.

The science, such as it is

Daylight saving time ended in most of the United States at 2 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 1, when clocks moved back one hour, according to timeanddate.com. That means earlier sunsets, which in many places now arrive around 5 p.m.. Her proposal is, in other words, to treat sunset as lights-out.

Is it a serious policy position? No. Is it the most relatable thing posted on X this week? We would not rule it out.

Bedtime, then the Southern Hemisphere

She may want to bank the sleep. Her X profile banner advertises “The Eras of Trish Tour” in Australia and New Zealand in 2027. The dates on the banner start Feb. 27 at Spark Arena in Auckland, followed by Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena on March 4, Sydney’s TikTok Entertainment Centre on March 5, the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre on March 6, Perth HPC on March 9, the Adelaide Entertainment Centre Theatre on March 12 and Brisbane again on March 13.

Several are marked “new show,” the Melbourne and Perth dates are marked “venue upgrade,” and Sydney and the first Brisbane show are labelled “selling fast.” Those labels are the tour’s own; Channel 304 has not checked ticket sales.

Paytas, a longtime YouTuber and podcaster, has never been short of opinions. This one, at least, comes with a clear bedtime.

For anyone following her advice: it is dark out. You have permission.
