In brief: Adult performer and streamer Adriana Chechik posted late on Nov. 1, Pacific time, that she went to Dark Harbor at the Queen Mary with a VIP ticket and still had to pay extra for each ride. She says the rides were empty because of the charges, and blames companies for “corporatized” fun and “micro charges.”
Halloween is supposed to be scary. Adriana Chechik found the scariest part at the ticket booth. At about 1:37 a.m. Central time on Nov. 2, she posted on X:
I’m so f***ing sick of every experience being a charge to get in. Then a charge to do anything it’s insane.
The specifics followed:
How did I just go to the Queen Mary Dark Harbor with a VIP ticket but then I gotta pay to do more things after paying to get in in the first place.?!?
That punctuation, “.?!?”, is the sound of someone who has just been asked for more money by a person in a zombie costume. Dark Harbor is the long-running Halloween event aboard and around the Queen Mary in Long Beach, California. Channel 304 has not checked its pricing and is relaying her account of her night.
Then the post reached the stage of grief that can only be spelled phonetically:
Ufhghfhfhf like no one’s on the rides because you have to pay more money to ride the rides and each one’s individual you would think when your rides are empty, you would stop charging so f***ing much because why have them there when no one’s using them?!?
It is, honestly, a sound economic argument. An empty ride earns nothing. A ride with a line at least looks like fun. Chechik’s position is that a VIP ticket should mean something, and that a ghost town of attractions is not the spooky atmosphere anyone paid for.
She ended with the bigger picture:
I’m so pissed that these companies keep buying all these fun experiences and making them corporatized and micro charges.

Plenty of people agreed, or at least related. As of Nov. 2 the X API showed the post at 31,991 views, 593 likes and 48 replies.
It caps a busy Halloween season for Chechik, born in 1991, whose spooky-season outings have been a running theme on her X account. Earlier this fall she reported a happier night at Disney’s Oogie Boogie Bash, where Minnie Mouse kissed her phone. Disney, apparently, still includes the kiss in the ticket price.
The lesson of Dark Harbor, per Chechik: VIP stands for Very Important Payer, and the scariest thing on the Queen Mary was the bill.
