The “honest” is a nice touch, and so is the pumpkin emoji, in case anyone missed the season. It suggests she’s prepared to hear honest answers, which on X is brave.
Asking followers to pick a Halloween costume is a classic for a reason. It’s an easy way to get people talking, and in the adult world it also works as market research. Every suggestion in the replies is a small vote on what the audience wants to see.
It also puts her early. Asking on Oct. 3 leaves almost a full month to shop, sew, or panic-order something with two-day shipping.
The season is already busy for the industry. Halloween hooks are all over creator feeds this month, with themed shoots and costume polls arriving about as fast as the pumpkin-spice lattes.
Reign hasn’t announced a winner, and we won’t guess at the options. The crowd-sourcing is still open as far as anyone knows, and the polls close on Oct. 31.
Whatever she picks, she’ll have the defense every crowd-sourced costume gets: she asked, you answered, and it’s your fault.
That’s the beauty of a crowd-sourced costume: there’s always someone else to blame.
The rest of us are still deciding between a sheet with eye holes and pretending we forgot.
