In brief: On Holly Randall Unfiltered (Sept. 25), Pineapple Support ambassador Kasey Kei said sex workers often get told their problems are “because I do porn,” and that Pineapple exists to connect them with therapists who know better.
Contains adult themes: the embedded podcast clip discusses adult-industry work and mental health.
Most people go to therapy to talk about their job. For some adult performers, the job becomes the only diagnosis they get.
On Holly Randall Unfiltered (“Why Kasey Kei Became an Ambassador for Pineapple Support,” uploaded Sept. 25), Holly asked why the cause matters to her. Kasey started with what the nonprofit is for: connecting sex workers to therapists educated in sex positivity and queerness.
Then she named the pattern that puts people off therapy in the first place (0:44):
Yeah, they told me that my problems in life is because I do porn.
Her advice was not soft:
drop that therapist immediately.
Pay what you can
Pineapple Support, she said, is built to fix that mismatch and to make therapy reachable: “It is a like pay what you can.” Growing up in poverty, she said, she skipped therapy for a long time because she “just didn’t think I could afford it” and did not have health insurance until later.
Pressed for a bad-therapist story of her own, she mostly gave her solo therapists credit, then walked it back with a couples-therapy aside: she felt the clinician “didn’t like me” and “weren’t taking my side.” Holly added her own war stories from the host chair. Kasey’s point stayed on the industry pattern: performers still walk into rooms where sex work is treated as the whole problem.
Pineapple Support announced March 28, 2024 that it had appointed Kasey Kei as a brand ambassador. Channel 304 previously covered her TEAs Best Hardcore win and a separate Pineapple Support therapist webinar. The “because I do porn” line and the “drop that therapist” advice are her words on the Sept. 25 clip, checked against the saved captions.
So the ambassador brief is simple enough to fit on a sticky note: if they reduce you to your job, leave the office. And if you cannot afford the next office, Pineapple is supposed to be the door that still opens.
