In brief: Performer Lorelai Leigh will host “Cookout for a Cause” in Las Vegas on Oct. 15, 2–8 p.m., with proceeds going to a local domestic violence shelter; donations have passed $2,000, XBIZ reported.
This one is a community fundraiser, and it’s also a cookout.
Lorelai Leigh will host the fundraiser in Las Vegas on Oct. 15 from 2 to 8 p.m., with all proceeds going to a local domestic violence shelter, XBIZ reported. Donations had already exceeded $2,000.
Domestic violence runs rampant in sex work, and changing that starts with us.
Leigh added: “Showing up for our peers and giving back to women who are still trapped in the cycle of violence is something I am deeply passionate about. Food brings people together — it invites conversation and it invites change. Come hungry and bring something you enjoy eating.”
What to bring
Requested items include baby formula, diapers and baby food; children’s Halloween costumes; feminine hygiene products; nonperishable food; personal hygiene and hair products; new pajamas, towels, socks and underwear; cleaning supplies; CAT bus passes; and gas and gift cards.
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month in the U.S. The shelter wasn’t named in the announcement.
If you’re in Las Vegas on Thursday, bring something from the list and something to eat.
